Throughput Maximization for Wireless Powered Communications Harvesting from Non-dedicated Sources
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the wireless powered communications where users harvest energy from non-dedicated sources. The user follows a harvest-then-transmit protocol: in first phase of a slot time the source node harvests energy from a nearby conventional Access Point, then transmit information to its destination node or relay node in the second phase. We obtain the optimal harvesting ratio to maximize the expected throughput for direct transmission (DT )and decode forward (DF) relay under outage constraint, respectively. Our results reveal that the optimal harvest ratio for DT is dominated by the outage constraint while for DF relay, by the data causality . Index Terms Wireless powered communications, throughput optimization, harvest ratio, non-dedicated sources.

Throughput Maximization for Multi-Slot Data Transmission via Two-Hop DF SWIPT-Based UAV System
In this paper, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) assisted cooperative communication system is studied, wherein a source transmits information to the destination through an energy harvesting decode-and-forward UAV. It is assumed that the UAV can freely move in between the source-destination pair to set up line of sight communications with the both nodes. Since the battery of the UAV may be limite...
متن کاملA Generalized Optimization Framework for Wireless Powered Communication Networks
In this paper, we generalize conventional time division multiple access (TDMA) wireless networks to a new type of wireless networks coined generalized wireless powered communication networks (gWPCNs). Our prime objective is to optimize the design of g-WPCNs where nodes are equipped with radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting circuitries along with constant energy supplies. This constitutes an i...

In the near future, billions of wireless devices are expected to be operational. To enable the required machine to machine communications, two major problems must be addressed. How to obtain the required spectrum efficiency, and how to deliver the required power to these devices. The most promising answers to these questions are cognitive radio and energy harvesting, respectively. Energy harves...
متن کاملThroughput Maximization for Laser-Powered UAV Wireless Communication Systems
Laser power has become a viable solution to provide convenient and sustainable energy supply to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this paper, we study a laser-powered UAV wireless communication system, where a laser transmitter sends laser beams to charge a fixed-wing UAV in flight, and the UAV uses the harvested laser energy to communicate with a ground station. To maintain the UAV’s sustain...
متن کاملA study of MAC schemes for wireless sensor networks powered by ambient energy harvesting
Energy consumption is a perennial issue in the design of wireless sensor networks which typically rely on portable sources like batteries for power. Recent advances in ambient energy harvesting technology have made it a potential alternative source of energy for powering wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we study the performance of four different medium access control (MAC) protocols bas...
